Description:Job SummaryWe are looking for a HEAD OF WARDROBE to be part of the wardrobe team at Leeds Playhouse from Tuesday 26th August 2025. You will be in Leeds throughout the Playhouse run and will go on to deliver the subsequent UK tour. Job Description To Kill A Mockingbird is a co-production between Leeds Playhouse and Jonathan Church Theatre Productions which will open at Leeds Playhouse and then continue on to a UK tour. The HEAD OF WARDROBE is responsible for the supervision and running of the wardrobe department, including local venue dressers and maintenance staff, to ensure the smooth running of the show. It is the Head of Wardrobe's responsibility to ensure the Designer's original specification and look of the production is maintained. The post will be 2 separate contracts, one with Leeds Playhouse for the rehearsals and run at the Playhouse, the second with MOCKINGBIRD UK Tour Limited for the UK tour. We are looking for one person to fulfil both contracts. Key Contract Dates: 26 August 2025 (fit up & final week of rehearsals) 1 September 2025 (Technical Rehearsals) 8 September 2025 (Preview 1) 12 September 2025 (Technical Freeze) 17 September 2025 (PRESS) 4 October 2025 (Close / get out) 6 October 2025 - 24 May 2026 (UK Tour), with the option to extend the contract for a minimum of 12 weeks to accommodate a West End run. (further details in job pack on Leeds Playhouse website) Job Requirements Experience of working as Head of Wardrobe on a UK Tour or regional rep production Strong experience of styling and dressing for live performance / theatre Strong sewing skills Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually Experience of leading a team, in a confident and friendly environment Ability to troubleshoot Ability to adapt work in accordance with performance and venue requirements Ability to manage specialty cleaning of theatrical costumes and the repair/maintenance of costumes Strong communication & organization skills, with high level of empathy, integrity and confidentiality A positive can do attitude Calm, confident, understanding & flexible Positive approach to equity, diversity and inclusion, with willingness to train in & develop those areas Job Responsibilities Responsible for planning, supervision and maintenance of all costumes in the show for performances including all understudy costumes, press/marketing photography, press/marketing performances ensuring the Designer' original specification and look of the production is maintained Managing the wardrobe department, including recruitment, line management, recording of hours and training Manage, schedule and supervise the wardrobe team including Deputy Head of Wardrobe and local venue dressers To update and supervise the dressing plots undertaken by the wardrobe team - in both physical and digital formats. Acquire a familiarity with all plots/tracks within the wardrobe department so that you can train & cover local venue dressers as well as cover for Deputy Head of Wardrobe as required.
