Job Description

Doing Things is looking for a Head of Production to lead and scale execution across all original social-first video shows. The Head of Production will own end-to-end production: building systems, managing budgets and timelines, and leading a growing team of Production Managers and Video Editors. They’ll collaborate with our in-house creative teams to bring existing shows and emerging ideas to life. The ideal candidate has led production at a digital-first media company and knows how to build scalable, flexible systems that support growing creative teams. They have a deep understanding of meme humor, internet culture, and a track record of launching viral social media shows across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

This is a hybrid role, seeking candidates in the New York City area.

Responsibilities:

Own end-to-end production operations across all original content (branded and editorial) ensuring successful execution at scale
Build and manage production systems, calendars, and workflows to support on-time and on-budget execution
Collaborate closely with Creative Producers and Production Managers to translate ideas into established shows with highly engaged and loyal audiences on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
Create, manage, optimize production budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans from new shows to lean fast-turn projects to established legacy series
Maintain and grow a network of freelance talent and vendors for production and post-production needs
Oversee on the ground execution for key shoots and trouble shoot high-stakes or complex productions as needed
Manage, mentor, and scale a team of Production Managers and Video Editors that span multiple shows
Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Brand Partnerships, Legal, and Finance teams

Qualifications:

8-10+ years of experience in video production (Director of Video or Head of Production) with a proven track record of leading production in digital media
Experience leading production on viral (and funny) social media shows
Fluency in meme humor, internet culture, social first content, and social metrics across Instagram/Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
Strong background in leading multiple productions simultaneously
Experience leading production teams and overseeing budgets, schedules, and cross-department workflows
Deep understanding of production logistics, equipment, and financial reporting
Strong mentorship and leadership skills with experience mentoring production teams
