Head of Sound (Dear England)expired

National Theatre

United Kingdom United Kingdom, London
Posted on: Feb. 28, 2025

Description:

We are looking for a Head of Sound for Dear England on a Fixed Term Contract.

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game? The team has the worst track record for penalties in the world, and manager Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take team and country back to the promised land.

Writer James Graham updates his epic examination of nation and game to reflect Gareth Southgate’s final chapter as England manager. Dear England will play the Olivier theatre from 10 March to 24 May 2025, followed by a four-week run at the Lowry in Salford.

The Head of Sound will work collaboratively alongside other technical Heads of Department, supporting the Creative team and company, to facilitate and manage the realisation of Dear England at the Lowry.

Together with the rest of the company, the Head of Sound will uphold a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and will endeavour to create and maintain a working atmosphere, in rehearsal sessions and on tour, where all feel supported and empowered to deliver their best work.

Key show dates:

Start date during week commencing 12 May 2025 (exact date TBC)
Technical rehearsals from 27 May 2025 in Salford (Lowry)
First performance on 29 May 2025 in Salford (Lowry)
Opening performance on 1 June 2025 in Salford (Lowry)
Final performance on 29 June 2025 in Salford (Lowry)
All dates are subject to change and confirmation

The successful candidate will have the following:

Extensive operational Sound experience and excellent technical skills, including expert live mixing skills with a proven track record of dealing with complex radio mic shows
Experience with industry-standard consoles, including Theatre software, QLab sound playback software and radio microphones, in addition to other equipment and software
Previous large-scale production experience essential
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to lead and organise staff with empathy and discretion
