Description:DescriptionThe Role This is a fantastic opportunity for someone self-motivated and practical, with a wealth of experience in the technical arts to join RADA as the Head of Sound. Line managed by the Academy’s Director of Technical Training, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and pedagogical requirements. They will also lead on coordinating and defining the ethos and day-to-day running of the Sound Department within the Academy as well as being responsible for taking both a production-based and building wide view of all related Health & Safety, Technical, Managerial and Pedagogical concerns within this area. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of theatre sound design and production sound engineering processes, including all aspects of Health & Safety. Candidates need to demonstrate strong and extensive knowledge and experience with digital and analogue mixing desks, computer-based editing and recording studio technique. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, a supportive and helpful attitude and be able to motivate a team. The Team RADA’s Sound Department supports the teaching of all students studying both technical and acting pathways through the successful mounting of RADA productions to studio work related to radio drama and voiceover. The Sound Department leads on productions from a technical and logistical point of view, supporting all other technical and creative departments through the production process. As the head of sound at RADA, you will lead the Sound Department, supporting RADA’s Director of Technical Training in the day to day workings of the sound department, teaching and supporting students across other disciplines of the RADA Technical Theatre and Stage Management course.
