Description:Job SummaryThe Head of Programming & Events plays a key strategic role in the development and imagination of Peckham Level’s public programme of arts, enterprise and community action, while also leading on commercial hires. Job Description Working closely with the Artistic Director, the Head of Programming & Events plays a key strategic role in the development and imagination of Peckham Level's public programme of arts, enterprise and community action, while also leading on commercial hires. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Programming and planning: Draw on a knowledge of South East London's cultural heritage to make Peckham Levels a welcoming space for artists, entrepreneurs and community activists; Support and advise the Artistic Director with an eye on cultural values, commercial viability, reach, audience development, EDI and risk; Secure hires for the site on a commercial basis, overseeing their delivery. Event Delivery & Producing: Produce the full programme of shows and events throughout the venue, recruiting and managing in-house Events Coordinators, freelance technicians and agency Front-of-House staff, including managing appropriate schedules and rotas; Create and manage the annual events budget and individual show or event budgets, ensuring income, expenditure and profit targets are met; Negotiate deals and agreements to ensure Peckham Levels' rights and interests are protected, and also that partners, artists and other freelancers are treated fairly and in line with industry expectations; Ensure Peckham Levels has all appropriate contracts and licences in place; Ensure all teams have information about the programme to deliver it effectively; Be the internal contact for visiting freelancers, guest artists and companies, connecting them with other team members as appropriate; Collect data and feedback to evaluate the programme, supporting the Artistic Director in preparing reports for quarterly Steering Group papers; Maintain strong knowledge of, and relationships with, major arts, hospitality and technical unions and their agreements. Job Requirements Essential Over 3 years' experience in an events and programming role, with proven experience of leading successful delivery as well as programming; Experience of writing and negotiating a variety of programming and hire agreements, including dry hires, minimum spends, and box office splits; Existing contacts and relationships within South London's cultural networks; Experience of successfully managing employees and/or freelancers; Experience meeting ambitious sales or participation targets; Experience managing budgets of £10K+; Knowledge of and enthusiasm for South East London's creative heritage and community, as well as Peckham Levels' work. Desirable Experience of creating or producing theatre, music events, or other live art forms; Experience of working in food and beverage, or other hospitality services; Experience of using AV and lighting equipment; Experience using ticketing or CRM software; A clear and confident communicator in a range Job Responsibilities Programming and planning: Work with the Artistic Director to plan and deliver the public programme of arts, enterprise and community action at Peckham Levels, including managing the programming calendar, individual event schedules, and writing all financial deals; Lead the growth of the public programme in terms of scale and ambition, by identifying leading and emerging artists or companies to work with through research and regularly seeing work elsewhere; Maintain strong relationships with agents, promoters at other arts organisations, in part through attendance at industry events and through proactive networking; Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to coordinate messaging, ticketing and sales plans for all public programming and events; Work with the Artistic Director to identify fundraising opportunities for the programme, including the writing of applications and reports, and developing corporate or brand partnerships to support the programme;
