YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Production Manager, and in collaboration with the Artistic Director, you will have to:

· Manage and oversee lighting operations;
· Act as lighting console operator during rehearsals and performances;
· Ensure that lighting systems function smoothly during performances;
· Oversee focusing and update the lighting show track to preserve the artistic integrity of the lighting concept;
· With the Lighting Designer, ensure the lighting concept is respected;
· Apply corrective measures as required by the Lighting Designer, the Production Manager, or the Artistic Director;
· Ensure the lighting equipment and electrical installations are safe at all times;
· Ensure the lighting team and technical personnel (Cirque employees and supernumerary staff) respect standards and regulations regarding the safety of lighting equipment, and apply safe work methods;
· Train and supervise lighting technicians and relief lighting console operators;
· Develop and update training and succession programs to ensure continuity of lighting operations during performance runs;
· Inspect and maintain lighting equipment, and keep records of inspections and alterations;
· Keep lighting archives, the lighting plan, projector locations, documentation on signals, technical specifications and customs documents up to date;
· Seek out, order or purchase new or replacement lighting equipment as per the company’s procurement policies;
· Coordinate activities and supervise personnel during the load-in and load-out of lighting equipment;
· Participate in Load-In and Load-Out;
· Support the Production Manager by taking part in the process of hiring new technicians, managing team budgets and projecting capital expenditures;
· Participate in team meetings;
· Respect and support procedures and requirements set by Cirque du Soleilwith regard to managing equipment and stock;
· Use the tools and procedures provided to manage inventory and equipment data;
· Follow requirements defined by the customs and logistics departments for transporting equipment with touring shows;
· Carry out all other related tasks assigned by the Production Manager.

YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE

· College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
· Six to eight years' relevant experience;
· Knowledge of Compulite lighting consoles and moving lights programming is an asset;
· Personnel management experience;
· Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
· Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
· Ability to work at height (facility to climb, an asset);
· Knowledge of Microsoft applications for Windows and AutoCAD;
· Fluency in spoken and written English is essential; any additional language spoken and/or written is an asset;
· Available to tour internationally full time and to work in foreign countries.
