Job Summary

We are currently seeking a skilled and visionary Head of Event Management to join us on a full time permanent basis, to oversee the seamless delivery of world-class events.

Job Description
As a key member of the Arts Planning and Producing team, you'll report to the Director Arts Planning and Producing, working closely with senior colleagues across planning, rentals, producing, and visitor experience. The successful candidate will lead the Event Management team, ensuring outstanding delivery, cohesive collaboration, and innovative processes that uphold Southbank Centre's reputation for excellence.

The successful candidate will take on a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Lead and inspire the Event Management team, providing mentorship, training, and development opportunities.
Oversee event scheduling, budgets, and team capacity, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery across all events.
Collaborate with cross-organisational teams to streamline processes, implement new systems, and maintain rigorous standards.
Represent Event Management in operational discussions, advocating for best practices and innovative solutions.
Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex event management issues and contract enquiries.
We're looking for an experienced leader with a strong track record in event management, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships across teams. You'll have a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, and the confidence to lead a high-performing team.

Job Requirements

Demonstrable and extensive team management skills including experience in: developing a strong team culture, managing and motivating teams through times of change, upholding standards of performance (including experience of performance management) and managing training and development needs (both group and individual).
Significant event management experience across multiple art forms in a range of environments of size, scale and complexity, including bespoke and site specific spaces.
Significant experience of contract negotiation and management on large scale projects, both subsidised and commercial.
Significant financial experience with complex large scale budgets across multiple concurrent projects.
Demonstrable proficiency in project management skills, business acumen, and a strong entrepreneurial instinct.
Has experience of working with international artists and a full understanding of the UK immigration and visa environment.
An inspirational and collaborative leader.
Job Responsibilities
Line managing Senior Event Managers, managing the team's capacity; ensuring standards of work and delivery are monitored and maintained; supporting the team with development and training; acting as a point of escalation; and being responsible for all areas of people management that might arise.
Maintaining an overview on all Event Manager allocations and scheduling, collaborating closely with the Senior Event Managers to draft and issue a regular schedule in accordance with delivery needs, taking oversight of team capacity and workloads, managing overarching hours and scheduling to ensure consistency of delivery across the team, and introducing efficiencies and time saving initiatives wherever possible.
Maintaining an overview on all budgets that the Senior Event Managers and Event Managers are responsible for, keeping the Director Arts Planning and Producing abreast of any concerns and escalating to the Director Arts Planning and Producing as necessary.
