Head Electrician – 5th Avenue Theatre (Seattle, WA)
Wage: $43/hour
Benefits: As outlined in STG’s contract with IATSE Local 15

The Head Electrician is employed on all shows and events that require the use of the Stage Department at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle when STG is promoting in the space. Events may include corporate events, dance, comedy, musical acts, and more.

Responsibilities include working with the Head Carpenter to ensure the safe operation of the stage, supervising and assigning local crews, and collaborating with other stage departments to meet production needs. This role also involves working across departments for non-departmental shows (i.e., Non-Yellow Card shows) as directed by the Production Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Other duties may be assigned)

Work effectively with house crew, Local IATSE overhire crew, road crew, and clients.

Collaborate with the Head Carpenter to manage work duties and priorities.

Lead crews of varying sizes efficiently.

Adapt to changing show priorities and fluctuating schedules in a positive manner.

Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Work safely and predictably under stressful conditions and long hours.

Be proactive in work assignments and complete tasks independently.

Serve as the primary operator of the house lighting console when a production does not bring its own operator.

Qualifications
Working knowledge of electrics/lighting systems and the ability to maintain related equipment, including:

Lighting consoles

Instruments and cables

Follow spots

Dimmer systems

Power distribution

Safe use of power and hand tools.

Comfortable working from elevated positions.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to run show cues.

General working knowledge of stage carpentry, props, A/V, and sound equipment.

Speaking additional languages (e.g., Spanish or ASL) is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Vision: Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary.

Mobility: About 80% of the time is spent standing and walking.
