ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Led by Artistic Director Stuart Carden and Executive Director Angela Gieras, Kansas City Repertory Theatre is a 60-year-old regional theater. KCRep is the professional theatre in residence on the UMKC campus. Spencer Theatre, a 550-seat modified thrust theatre, is housed in the Olson Performing Arts Center. Copaken Stage is our 319 seat LORT D space, which is housed in the H+R Block world headquarters in downtown KC. The subscription season currently consists of four productions as well as the annual special presentation of A Christmas Carol and an annual community tour in the spring.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Head Audio Engineer is responsible for the load-in, strike, live mixing, board operation, and system maintenance of KC Rep productions and special events as assigned by the Sound + Technology Director. This person must have previous recording experience, rigging knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively. This position does require weekend and evening hours when a show is in tech or performance periods.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Read, interpret, and build from designer drawings as assigned by the Sound + Technology Director
Operate theatrical sound-related gear including Q-Lab, sound consoles, communication systems, and video systems
Maintain sound design after show opening, including consistent quality, program troubleshoot, speaker check, maintain and repair equipment, and general cleanup, as needed
Participate in all show load-ins and strikes, as well as tech and previews, as assigned
Work in a safe, efficient, and organized manner
Understand and abide by all of Kansas City Repertory Theatre+rsquo;s policies and procedures
Support and uplift KCRep+rsquo;s mission, vision, and values. Demonstrate a dedication to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-racism (IDEA) work.


QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in technical theatre sound or a related field
Working knowledge of basic theatre elements (scenery, lighting, projections, and other related departments)
Experience in mixing large scale musicals
Knowledge of Dante networks and current DSPs (digital signal processors)
Familiarity with Meyer speaker and software systems
Ability to repair audio and video gear, including soldering
Previous experience with Digital Audio Consoles (including Yamaha CL5)
Working knowledge of best rigging and safety practices
