Description:Job Description / DutiesReporting to the Executive Director, the Front of House (FOH) Manager is responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing the day-to-day front of house operations and maintenance of the Royal Theatre and McPherson Playhouse Front of House Areas, while ensuring consistency in providing an exceptional customer service experience for clients and patrons. Positions reporting directly to the Front of House (FOH) Manager include the Assistant Front of House Manager, Custodial staff (full time and casual) and Front of House casual staff. Duties and Responsibilities • Administration of all FOH activities including patron services, liaising with clients, and bar and concession services. • Responsible for hiring, performance management, training, scheduling, discipline, and review of staff. • Responsible for ensuring the general security of the theatres including determining when security services are required and scheduling third party security services. • Contribute to and maintain Fire, Safety, Emergency and Crisis management for both theatres, in conjunction with the Joint Health and Safety Committee. • Ensuring that all staff have satisfactory information to serve clients during rentals. • Responsible for the administration of all custodial staff. • Develop and implement procedures and systems for FOH and Custodial areas of work. • Responsible for the maintenance of FOH and Custodial equipment. • Assisting in preparation of proposals and budgets as they pertain to the FOH and Custodial departments. • Responsible for the ordering and management of inventory and supplies for the bar and concession operations. • Responsible for maintaining and upholding liquor licensing regulations. Qualifications / Required Skills • A minimum of five years’ experience managing large crowds in the arts, entertainment or hospitality field, with a minimum of three years in a management role. • Relevant post-secondary education in arts administration, theatre, or hospitality management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset. • Ability to effectively manage employee performance and communicate work expectations. • Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team setting and liaise with internal and external stakeholders. • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail. • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and work activities. • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. • Effective computer skills. • Effective oral and written skills. • Occupational First Aid, WCB Level One or Two Certification (training provided). • Serving it Right Certification (or equivalent).
