The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) was founded in 2008 and is the premier contemporary Circus School in Philadelphia. Currently located in a 30,000 sq/ft facility in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, our offerings include both Youth and Adult programming in circus arts.
We are currently seeking a Flying Trapeze Program Director for our 2020 Flying Trapeze Program! (April to October) The Flying Trapeze Program Director will lead one of the most exciting and growing Outdoor Flying Trapeze Programs in the country, located within our bustling Circus Campus in beautiful Mt. Airy.
The Flying Trapeze Program Director is a dynamic and exciting job position that offers a significant amount of autonomy and programmatic control. Job responsibilities include:
Initial Setup and Final Break Down
Managing set up of the rig at the start of the season and breaking it down at the end.
Safety
Scheduling and conducting regular rig inspections and reporting them to PSCA’s Head Coach.
Performing documented safety checks (including ensuring every class has appropriately-qualified staff) before and after each days use of the rig.
Monitoring the health and safety (physically and emotionally) of all students and staff, including filling out Incident Reports as needed
Immediately report any unsafe, damaged or lost equipment
People
Hiring appropriate staff in collaboration with PSCA’s leadership team.
Managing staff throughout the season, including setting their schedules, consulting with PSCA to establish their pay rates, maintaining employee files and evaluating their work.
Scheduling and conducting paid staff training and meetings.
Establish benchmarks for staff training, documenting staff progress, and ensuring that every class has appropriately-qualified staff.
Support and share PSCA’’s Mission and Vision in speaking with students, staff, and parents
Management
Working as lead teacher for the Flying Trapeze classes whenever possible: platform, safety lines, catching
Placing equipment orders with PSCA as necessary.
Communicating class cancellations due to weather or illness in a timely way directly with clients through PSCA’s booking system.
Meeting monthly with PSCA’s leadership team to discuss the program trajectory.
Creating and implementing a fun and friendly environment that fosters a feeling of success and safety for the recreational curriculum of students ages 6-Adult.
Working with PSCA’s marketing team to market the program in a timely and effective way.
Qualified applicants will have
2+ years experience running a flying-trapeze rig and teacher training.
References from programs attesting to administrative and organizational skills.
A stellar record for safety practices.
Great written and oral communication skills, both with clients and administrators.
Excitement and enthusiasm for a potential long-term relationship.
Pay Rate
This will be an hourly paid position
