In this new production, we transport you to a musical universe that will explore the chiaroscuro side of the night. This intimate and hushed show will introduce you to lyrical vocal works that will dialogue with dance and the cello. Opéra Outside the Box is looking for a choreographer-performer or dancer-improviser interested in participating in the creation and performance process of a new creative project that will be presented as part of the Festival Montreal Fringe in June 2023. Non-binary, trans or female people will be given priority in the selection process. The terms of creation are still open and to be determined between the project team, which will include the chosen candidate. Duos are also accepted, but must agree to share the fee. We encourage unique applications, to be able to offer an adequate fee. What is wanted Minimum experience in creation or choreographic improvisation. Dance training or self-taught accepted. Experiences of relevant scenes, in dance. Available for the entire duration of the commitment The audition will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Montreal, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Content of the hearing: The auditions will be individual (or in duo if you apply in duo). One person or a duo at a time, we will share the musical material of the project with you, and we will work around different ways of creating. There will be no right or wrong answer. The goal is to get to know each other. Each audition should last a maximum of one (1) hour per candidate. To be selected for the audition, please send: Your up-to-date CV (max 3 pages), in word or pdf format. A short biography (max 250 words), in word or pdf format. A cover letter that presents your artistic approach and to help us understand what drives you as a movement artist (max 2 pages), in word or pdf format. To lighten the filing for accessibility concerns, we accept that the biography and the letter be filed in video format instead of in writing. The video must last a maximum of 5 minutes, via a Youtube link, Vimeo, Google Drive, Dropbox. We will not accept video files via wetransfer. The CV must be presented in writing. Everything must be sent to [email protected] Deadline: Friday, April 21, 11:59 p.m. Responses to the auditions will be given no later than the following week and all candidates will receive a positive or negative response. Artists of all ethno-cultural backgrounds, genders, identities, ages, and diverse body types are encouraged to audition. We welcome submissions from people of all identity spectrums.
