POSITION SUMMARY
The ESPAÑA-STREB TRAPEZE ACADEMY RIG MANAGER is responsible for ensuring the operational
success of the trapeze academy through lead instruction, teacher training and regular inspection and
maintenance of the trapeze rig. Reporting to STREB’s Director of Programming and working closely with
STREB leadership, the ESTA Manager plays a key role in developing, maintaining and motivating the
trapeze academy school and staff while adding value to the entire STREB organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
With input from the Executive Director, Co- Artistic Director and Director of Programming, ensure the
programmatic success of the trapeze academy by:

Recruiting and training a diverse ESTA staff and student body;

Ensuring the vision and execution of the ESTA programming, pedagogy and practice aligns with
artistic vision and values of the STREB Inc.;

Motivating, scheduling, and performance managing ESTA instructors through staff trainings,
specialized clinics and personalized training programs for building skills, improving performance
and providing ongoing professional development while staying current on industry standards
and best practices and regularly communicating information and feedback to trapeze instructors;

Ensuring that all safety procedures and protocols are implemented, maintained and documented
for rigging, teacher training and instruction (minimum 1 hr/week);

Ensuring satisfaction and retention of students through positive interaction and follow up
regarding future enrollments;

Liaising with different programmatic leaders of the organization to ensure fruitful collaboration
and realizing new synergies; and

Generally serving as the positive face of the ESTA and STREB Inc.
EXPERIENCE





5+ years of aerial and trapeze experience, including lead instruction;
Knowledge and implementation of rigging safety procedures, protocols and best practices
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to share STREB’s mission,
vision and purpose to a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, motivating instructors and working across the
organization to ensure smooth operations; and
Proven leadership skills and demonstrated professional innovation.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Minimum of 20 hours per week
Includes teaching classes, staff training, rig inspections/maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Salary: $32-35/hr

Founded by Elizabeth Streb in 1979, STREB has performed in theaters large and small, on the streets and
in sports stadiums, and has been commissioned to create new work for large scale events and festivals
from the Whitney Museum of American Art’s groundbreaking to the London 2012 Olympic Festival. In

an annual budget of approximately $2M, which fluctuates depending on strategic initiatives.
