As part of the elite Australian Roundtable for Arts Training Excellence, NICA is a one-of-a-kind institution, world-renowned for its uncompromising level of skill through innovative training programs. At NICA, we seek to evolve our business transformational capability with contemporary expertise, processes, and technology. We are seeking an experienced leader to head this vibrant, creative and internationally-engaged community of inspiring talent.

The Director of NICA will be at the forefront of driving the development, operationalisation and attainment of the organisation’s strategic goals as set out by the NICA Board and the Federal Government. In this role you will provide executive leadership and oversight of the daily operational management of NICA. Cultivating a culture of achievement through innovative strategies, products and systems, the Director will identify key drivers of change, promote and communicate a clear vision for NICA, and lead initiatives that strengthen NICA’s competitive advantage.

As the Director, you will utilise your expertise of the circus/performing arts sector coupled with your exceptional business acumen, to elevate NICA’s reputational standing and contribution on both a national and international scale. You will champion this through proactively and strategically building robust relationships with globally-recognised performing arts organisations, government and philanthropic organisations.

About National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA)
NICA is a national not-for-profit arts training organisation registered as a cultural organisation and primarily funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications. NICA is one of eight national elite training organisations in the performing arts. As a subsidiary of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne and operating with a separate board and governance structure in place, NICA is the only training institute of its kind in Australia.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

Relevant qualifications and experience in management of significant human and material resources, preferably with a background in circus, performing arts or related industry
Established expertise as part of a high-performing leadership team, with experience in the implementation of critical business strategies
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to negotiate and consult both at a national and international level
Outstanding skills in business planning, with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
