Job Summary
She Said Jump is seeking a theatre & puppet designer to collaborate on R&D for our new show 'DIRT, a circus adventure underground', a touring, semi-immersive piece for outdoor festivals and theatres.
Job Description
DIRT, a circus adventure underground is an immersive, multi-sensory installation & performance for young people and families that dives under the ground beneath our feet and asks, why should we care about soil? Using circus, storytelling, science and silliness (and a lot of puppets) DIRT is designed for intergenerational audiences and with accessibility at its core.
We are seeking a designer to collaborate on the R&D, contributing to the devising process and producing initial designs and budget for future production phase. Knowledge of aerial circus is useful though not essential and the designer will collaborate with the company on the design process to integrate technical elements. We are particularly interested in hearing from designers with experience/interest in working with recycled & re-purposed materials & object puppetry. Experience of devised work is essential.
Fee of £1500 to include: visiting 1st residency week (by zoom if neccessary), participation in 2nd residency week (days negotiable), planning, preparation & consultation with creative team in between residency weeks and followup work, to reach the point of initial designs & budget for future production phase in 2024 (subject to further funding).
Residencies take place at 101 Outdoor Arts, Newbury. Catered accommodation provided and travel expenses covered.
Dates:
14th-18th Aug - Residency week 1 (day visit if availability allows)
11th-15th Sept - Residency week 2 (joining process - days negotiable)
