Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Stage Manager for Starter for Ten, a new musical based on the novel by David Nicholls and the HBO Playtone film, produced by Antic Productions, Bristol Old Vic, Longshot Films and Playtone.
Job Description
Bristol Old Vic is seeking an experienced Deputy Stage Manager for the musical "Starter for Ten," adapted from David Nicholls' novel. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of rehearsals and performances.
Key Responsibilities:
Support stage management with daily operations of rehearsals and performances.
Compiling and maintaining the prompt copy.
Editing a working script and communicating changes as required.
Ensuring communication across the production process. Producing and distributing paperwork, including notes, calls, show reports, breakdowns and plots.
Responsible to the Stage Manager and Company Manager and deputising as required.
Working in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and in-house policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of Deputy Stage Manager experience in a similar setting.
Experience with musicals is required.
Experience with new musicals and touring productions is a plus.
Personal Attributes:
Proven experiences as a Deputy Stage Manager. A team player with the ability to work with others and independently. An excellent communicator. The ability to work calmly under pressure. Exemplary time management. Working with attention to detail. A positive attitude. A passion for regional theatre.
Job Requirements
The production opens at Bristol Old Vic before transferring to Birmingham Rep.
Dates: Thursday 31st July - Tuesday 4th November 2025.

Working in conjunction with the Stage Management team to facilitate and support the rehearsal process, technical rehearsals and to ensure the smooth running of each performance.
