Job Title: Deputy Head Of LX
Responsible to: Head of LX, Company Manager & General Management
Start date: March 2025 (Final- Start Date TBC)
End date: Tuesday 5th August 2025
The Production
Life of Pi is a 5-time Olivier Award-winning play setting off on a four-month tour across mainland China, Macau & Tawain. The production has just come to the end of its first experience of international touring by travelling to Toronto, Abu Dhabi & Mumbai. The production has been praised for its on-stage diversity, skilled puppetry work and complex use of Video and Automation. The play tells the story of a teenager marooned on a lifeboat with a variety of animals (including a Bengal tiger). It is adapted from Yann Martel's celebrated novel by Lolita Chakrabarti, with direction by Max Webster, Set and Costume Design by Tim Hatley and Puppet and Movement Direction by Finn Caldwell.

Purpose of Job
To assist the Head of LX as directed with regard to the operation and maintenance of all LX equipment. We are looking for a candidate with proven strong operating abilities and UK No 2-touring experience.
Specific Lighting Skills Preferred but not fully expected
- Experience using a Zactrack followspot system - Experience relighting productions on tour (International touring preferable) - Experience of equipment rigging, suspension and safety
Job Requirements
Responsible for deputising in the operation of the lighting for performances including all moving and generic lights and all effects.
2. To help perform safe and accurate operation of the video playback system, projectors and associated equipment for performances and rehearsals if needed.
3. To help and ensure that the Zactrack follow spot system is installed and working at each venue.
4. To ensure that all equipment is maintained and in safe working order.
5. To attend the get-in, fit-up and get-outs as required.
6. To ensure all equipment is unpacked and prepared at each venue of the tour.
7. To closely always monitor the video system and projector outputs to ensure the line-up is correct and the system is functioning as designed.
To help on lamp checks prior to each performance.
9. To deputise the get-out of lighting equipment at each venue, and to prepare equipment ready for loading at the end of the run and to assist other departments until the completion of the get-out.
Job Responsibilities
10. To help perform comprehensive pre- and post-show checks as described in the department operations and maintenance manual.
11. To deputise and operate lighting/video equipment during the technical and dress rehearsals or at other times as requested by the Company Stage Manager.
12. To be responsible for and take an active part in a safe, inclusive and respectful working environment.
13. Adhere to the Health and Safety guidelines of the Company.
14. Any other duties as may be reasonably required in the course of your duties or as instructed by the Producers from time to time.
