STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company entering our 39th season, is seeking a deck hand/stagehand to join our productions of Austen's Pride Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Start and End dates depend on each individual position. All seasonal positions are paid bi-weekly on Fridays. Housing is not available for this position.

Deck Hands work closely with the Deck Supervisor and Stage Management to run a safe and fluid backstage environment.
Dates: 6/30/25-10/24/25, no housing
Starting at: $16/hour

1. Required skills
a. Excellent communication skills to manage many concurrent priorities
b. Confident reading and interpreting drawings and run paperwork
2. Required duties
a. Attend all rehearsals, performances, and photo calls
b. Performing traditional pre-show checks and preparations for scenery and props based on show needs
c. Assist with scenic construction, loadin, changeovers, and strikes
d. Perform any repairs or alterations during show run
3. Required concepts
a. Excellent interpersonal skills with many different personality types
b. Attention to detail in all aspects
c. Commitment to performing all aspects of job with respect to design adherence as well as safety
4. Organizational
a. Read and adhere to the guidelines in the Employee Handbook
b. Other duties as assigned

Working conditions include long days, working nights, weekends, and some overtime. Noise levels vary from quiet to very loud due to large machinery. A moderate degree of physical ability is associated with production positions, including ability to infrequently lift up to 50 pounds, pulling ropes, wear PPE, standing for long periods, climb ladders and stairs, and working at heights. Climate control varies significantly, and shops are not air conditioned. May be required travel locally on a regular basis, including driving a company cargo van or a box truck up to 26';. A high degree of working awareness is a must.
