AUDITION PROCESS

Auditions will be by invitation. Interested dancers should submit an expression of interest for consideration. Applications close 5pm Friday 4 July AEST.
If you have previously submitted your details to The Australian Ballet, please re-submit for this specific audition opportunity.
All dancers who submit an expression of interest will be contacted by Monday 7 July to confirm if they have been invited to audition.
Invited dancers will attend class on Wednesday 16 July.
Selected dancers may then be invited to attend a follow up interview on Thursday 17 July, in person in New York or remotely via Zoom.
All dancers who attend the audition will be contacted by Friday 25 July to confirm if they have been offered a contract.
WHAT TO DO:

Application Requirements:

A link to a short video showcasing your work, whether that's in the studio or in performance.
CV/Resume which includes a headshot, your height, list of your dance training, and performance experience – please do not include weight.
We are unable to progress any applications without the above information.

We seek versatile and motivated dancers suited to the company's varied repertoire and extensive performance and touring schedule.

Equally proficient in classical repertoire and new contemporary works, you are an ambitious artist of integrity and skill. You take personal responsibility, while thriving as part of a warm and supportive collective. Together with the company's fellow artists and creative leaders, you are comfortable questioning what ballet means today and creating what it could be in the future.

The Australian Ballet is one of the world's leading ballet companies and a globally recognised Australian national performing arts organisation. Each year the company presents upwards of 220 performances through its main stage seasons in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth; along with public programs, special events, an extensive regional tour, a Children's Ballet and Education programs and regular international tours.

We are headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria. Our home includes state of the art rehearsal studios, gym and health spaces, and dancer facilities. We tour for up to 6 months a year.

SALARY AND AVAILABLE CONTRACTS

Contracts are available across all genders, heights, and ranks.

Salaries are set in The Australian Ballet's Enterprise Agreement. Only Principal Artist salaries are open to negotiation.

Corps de Ballet from $1,448.60
Coryphée $1,729.53
Soloist from $1,881.85
Senior Artist $2,084.93
Principal Artist from $2,356.55
All salaries listed are in Australian dollars per week before tax, and exclude an additional superannuation contribution of 13% from July 1 (the Australian equivalent of a retirement pension)
VISA AND RELOCATION EXPENSES

The Australian Ballet will pay all work visa costs for successful applicants, including English tests and medicals where necessary.

Limited financial support for relocation to Australia may be available by individual negotiation.

TRAVEL BURSARIES

The Australian Ballet understands that traveling for auditions can be expensive, and we want to ensure that our opportunities are as far reaching as possible.

If you would like to attend the audition but need financial help to do so, we can offer up to $200 to help towards travel costs.

To be eligible for support, applicants need to meet one of the following criteria:

Be from a household with an annual income of under $32,000 (or equivalent)
Have a declared disability
Be a care giver
Be from a Global Majority background
Be Trans/Gender diverse
