Description:
At the Beaux-Arts in London and then at Le Fresnoy, the national studio for contemporary arts, Mylène Benoit understood that while art offers a reflection on form, it is also the vehicle for aesthetic, historical, and political legacies. She quickly involved the body in diverse research combining dance, song, sound material, light vibration, and textual elements. Her powerful and original creations, committed to the women's point of view, seek to bring to light entire swathes of knowledge about the living that have long been overlooked.
The company has around fifteen works in its repertoire, including Archée, created at the Cloitre des Célestins for the 2021 Avignon Festival. Mylène Benoit was an associate artist at Vivat, a dance and theater conventioned scene in Armentières from September 2011 to June 2014. She curated Augmented Dances for the Gaïté Lyrique in Paris, she was an associate artist at the Phare – CCN du Havre Normandie, in long-term residency at the Échangeur / CDCN Hauts-de-France, artist of the Ensemble Associé du Théâtre des 13 vents CDN in Montpellier and associate at the Théâtre du Beauvaisis, national scene of Beauvais. She was a laureate of the Villa Kujoyama in 2017. She was recently an associate artist of the Grand Ensemble des Quinconces & L'Espal, national scene of Le Mans until 2023.
Description of the ad
The Contour Progressif / Mylène Benoit company is looking for three contemporary dance performers.
"Being a spectator of a dance also means touching it with your eyes and projecting yourself through empathy into the dancer's body."
For several years, Mylène Benoit's creations have explored this somatic and imaginary dynamic, questioning the limits of traditional perception.
As part of an inclusive approach, this piece is designed to be accessible to everyone, able-bodied, visually or hearing impaired, blind, or deaf. This choreographic, vocal, and musical creation for three performers proposes to translate voice and music into light and to listen to the dance: sign-singing, vibration, surtitles, echolocation... It seems as if the sun seeks to broaden the spectrum of our sensory perceptions while freeing itself from the classic codes of representation.
This audition workshop aims to share creative processes and will be supervised by Mylène Benoit, choreographer, Alexandre Da Silva, choreography assistant, Myriam Djemour, vocal coach, Nicolas Devos, musician.
