Description:

Cirkus Syd is a platform to connect people, ideas and practises across borders and genres. We work in the cultural sphere using our expertise in contemporary circus arts, collaborate to inspire structural development and new opportunities.

We are excited by innovation, entrepreneurship, DIY, DIT and artistic research and we champion culture as an agent for democratic participation. We are an international NGO with a global membership base and we invite collaborators, partners and stakeholders to create visionary and developmental projects bringing people together to explore transdisciplinary cultural practises in our society.

We were founded in 2018 and have quickly gained momentum and breadth of activity due to the extensive experience and capacity of the board. Our flagship project are Circus Thinkers Platform connecting independent voices across the globe and the development of circus making in the region of Skåne.
We host a developing publishing house with a book shop and library.

Cirkus Syd is part of 4 international networks: BNCN, Circostrada European Network for Circus and Street Arts, INCAM international network of circus Magazine & Culture Action Europe.

We are based at the Stenkrossen site in Lund, Sweden. This is a multi-hub with performing arts facilities run by the municipality and inhabited by a variety of independent organisations.

The community and artist development officer works locally in Lund at Cirkus Syd's head office at Stenkrossen in Lund.

We created this role to have a person in the organisation who was not computer based, but outwardly facing and meeting the community.
The role will fit someone who likes interacting with people and is pedagogically minded.

The responsibilities of the role are:

- To organise the Open training for the local circus community
- To organise the independent training for professionals
- To support artistic residencies in-house
- To organise the Circus Playground activity
- To monitor and fill in relevant inspection documents for training equipment
- To organise masterclasses and workshops for professionals and young people
- To buy new equipment when necessary
- To be a supportive peer to those wishing to train and work in circus in Skåne
- To support activities involving the community such as volunteer management for festivals.
- To actively talk to the community and think about how the training facilities and support for circus arts can be better.

Requirements:

- Have experience of working as a circus professional in some capacity
- Be a "people person"
- Have an interest in circus development
- European passport or working visa for Sweden

Additional Information:

Please note the pay scale numbers do not make sense. The salary will be applied on an individual basis and be subject to Swedish taxation.

The contract is 50% flexible meaning it can vary from week to week and you can other commitments around this position.

The job is paid as monthly salary.
