Description:Devonshire Cultural Center offers various classes and events in all areas of the arts, including Theatre/Circus Arts. An assistant and birthday party assistant with experience in circus arts is sought to assist the instructor in one to two classes per week in addition to being available for periodic circus birthday parties as requested.There are perks for joining the SPD team? Pay: $10 to $14/hour depending on qualifications and experience Qualifications: Must be a mature, responsible individual at least 16 years of age. Must be creative, physically adept at demonstrating a wide range of circus techniques and enjoy working with youth ages 5 to 17. A minimum of 2 to 3 years of training in circus arts, including aerials is required. May be requested to obtain CPR, AED and first aide certifications. Duties: Must be able to support the instructor and birthday party leader in the implementation of a well-rounded circus arts program and scheduled birthday parties. This includes being able to both demonstrate circus techniques which include but is not limited to: juggling, gymnastics, clowning/comedy, poi-spinning, hula hooping and aerials with silks, single point and/or double point aerial hoop, static trapeze, single point trapeze plus Spanish web. Works to develop the skills and interests of each participant; maintains a safe environment for all who are taking part in the class/party. Cooperates with immediate supervisor in organizing and scheduling activities. Assists instructor with proper set-up, clean-up and return of all supplies and equipment utilized during the program activities. Completes circus rigging orientation with Circus Director. Assists instructor with maintaining attendance records. Performs other duties as assigned. Hours: Classes are generally scheduled for hte early evening on weeknights and during the day on Saturdays and Sundays with birthday parties during the day on the weekends. Classes and parties can be one to two hours in duration, including prep and strike time and the instructor would be assigned approximately one to two classes per week.
