Circus Arts Educator – Circus Spire/Circus Gilly 2020-21 (Part-Time)
Kinetic Arts Center is looking for a Circus Arts Educator to join our Circus Spire/Circus Gilly instructional team! Our season will open on September 14, 2020 with small group/pod-based instruction in our spacious facility (physical distancing is absolutely essential!).
Circus Spire (13 – 18 years old) is a pre-professional, multi-disciplinary circus youth troupe committed to excellence in circus arts training and performance. Performance opportunities include a multi-week, full-length production, individual act development, local off-site festivals and events, on-site special events (i.e., birthday parties), showcases/cabarets.
Circus Gilly (9 – 13 years old) is a performance program for the circus student who is ready for the challenge of more rigorous training. The primary aim of the program is to elevate circus skills to circus art by incorporating character and mood into performances.
We seek educators with experience in professional performance who are able to teach multi-disciplinary circus skills in the categories listed below. Candidates with an understanding of multiple areas of theatrical production are highly encouraged to apply!
Aerial
Hand Balancing
Tumbling/Acrobatics
Partner Acrobatics (when safe to do so)
Juggling
Physical Theatre
Dance
Performance
Pods of up to eight students will be meeting two or three times per week (with a slow ramp up in training hours as the season progresses). The focus at the top of the season will be on conditioning in order to get our performers back into aerial and acrobatics shape following our COVID-related pause.
