Description:DESCRIPTIONNexGen Youth Theatre, an educational youth theatre company based in Manhattan, is seeking a choreographer for four numbers in their upcoming production of "The Drowsy Chaperone," performing November 15 - 17 at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre (10 W 64th Street, New York, NY). Rehearsals are Fridays from 5pm-9pm, Sundays from 1pm-6pm, and Saturdays from 1pm-6pm in Midtown Manhattan (Ripley-Grier Studios, Open Jar Studios, or other Midtown West rehearsal studio). There will be additional rehearsals and tech in the theater November 11th-14th (Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre). PLEASE NOTE: You will not be needed for all rehearsals, and availability for tech week/the show run is optional. Rehearsal and Production schedule can be found here: https://www.nexgentheatre.com/_files/ugd/30cb2f_f12e64cb7fa947d4b0e52b70c8bb1d0f.pdf DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Choreographing "Cold Feet," "Show Off," "Toledo Surprise," and "Bride's Lament" for students ages 15 - 22 - Attending and collaborating in brief planning meetings with the team through the process QUALIFICATIONS: - Dance background with choreographic experience (Tap, and familiarity with the 1920s style a plus) - Ability to choreograph for young performers with varying levels of dance ability - Experience working with young performers in a leadership role - Collaborative nature and positive attitude - Patience with the learning process NexGen Youth Theatre is an equal opportunity employer, and we strongly encourage any and all qualified applicants to apply.
