The Promise Academy Afterschool program is an extension of Promise Academy day school. The program provides 500+ students in grades K 12 a safe, nurturing educational environment that fosters self-confidence and personal and social development. Students are exposed to a variety of fun-filled project-based learning, developmental, and high-caliber enrichment activities, which include arts enrichment (e.g., performing, culinary and visual arts), tutoring, homework help, and academic intervention support, as well as health/wellness and physical fitness education. Additionally, students are engaged in leadership development activities, including student government, character education, and conflict resolution, and participate in several team sports and recreation activities, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer. We are seeking a part-time Cheerleading Coach. The ideal candidate will develop a high-quality cheerleading program and provide effective leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and execute the cheerleading curriculum Create a cheerleading program that will include choreography, cheers, stunts, and gymnastics Prepare and coordinate routines for games, pep rallies, cheerleading competitions, and special events Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents Monitor and report on student progress and performance Collaborate and consult with staff on student performance in cheerleading activity and schoolwork Maintain ongoing communication with Athletics Program Director Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect, and self-esteem Act as a positive role model for students Perform other duties as assigned Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ Experience working with youth and adolescent population Bachelor's degree and at least two years of coaching experience Must have strong knowledge and skills in cheerleading Ensure the cheerleading curriculum is structured, age-appropriate, and has clear learning goals Solid understanding of cheerleading rules and safety guidelines AACCA or USA Cheer certifications and credentials are highly preferred Cheerleading competition experience is a plus Must be able to travel to away games or events Must have strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent writing and communication skills Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible, and approachable attitude Ability to effectively engage and motivate students Must be able to work 3 pm to 7 pm, Monday - Friday, and Saturdays as requested The compensation range for this position is $20-$25 p/h.
