Celebrating sixty years’ worth of musical magic from the one-and-only Stevie Wonder! Featuring such smash hits as “Sir Duke,” “You Are The Sunshine of My Life,” “I Just Called To Say I Love You,” and many more you know and love.

AGVA Contract*

FST’s Goldstein Cabaret Theatre

Rehearsals begin – October 25, 2022

Show opens – November 18, 2022

Show closes – March 19, 2023

Possible extension through March 26, 2023

FST is open to splitting actor contracts in half to accommodate performer availabilities, pending final casting choices.

Cast:

Actor 1: 20s-40s, Black, bari-tenor. Sings like Stevie Wonder, holds Stevie in the highest regard and reverence. Charismatic and inviting, effortlessly cool. Must play the piano and read music exceptionally well.

Actor 2: 20s-40s, any ethnicity, bari-tenor. Strong and soulful sound, can sing in the style of Steve Wonder and friends. Stevie Wonder super fan, can rattle off Stevie fun-facts in their sleep. Must play the piano and read music exceptionally well.

Actor 3: Any age, Black, bari-tenor. Understudies the two leads and sings back up. Must play the piano and read music and exceptionally well. Ability to play any other instruments a huge plus.

Actor 4: Any age, any ethnicity, mezzo-soprano. A member of the band who steps out for solo moments and sings back up. Must sing well and play upright bass. Ability to play any other instrument a huge plus.

All actors must have the ability to connect genuinely with the audience as themselves and should be excellent/authentic actor-musicians with soul. Musical revues for Florida Studio Theatre develop and change as they rehearse, so actors must be flexible and treat the show like a new musical workshop. All actors must also be fully vaccinated for COVID19.

NYC Callbacks will be held in person on the morning of Friday, 9/9 and the afternoon of Monday, 9/12. Actors will be notified of callbacks the week of 8/29, and virtual callback tapes will also be accepted.

*AEA members and Non-Union actors are encouraged to audition alongside AGVA members. You do not have to join AGVA to take this contract.

Please share 16-32 bars of a song in the style of Stevie Wonder, self-accompanied on the piano. We prefer to see something that you are very comfortable with already, as opposed to learning something new.

Song examples: "Sir Duke", “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”, "Superstition", "My Cherie Amour", and "Isn't She Lovely?"

Those submitting for the bass player or band can send vocals and instrument examples separately.

SALARY

$500-$800/wk, based on experience and size of role
