Curious Seed are auditioning for a male-identifying Black/Person of Colour professional dancer to join the cast of Chalk About, our internationally-acclaimed show for all ages 8 and up, for a 12-week tour in Scotland and Ireland in Autumn 2022.

Workshop audition callout for a male-identifying BPoC (Black/Person of Colour) dancer to work with Edinburgh-based dance theatre company Curious Seed
Chalk About, our acclaimed show for all ages 8 and up, is a playful, funny and sometimes moving look at how we see ourselves and others featuring dance, chalk, chat and one perfect scene containing everything you could wish for. Curious Seed is now casting for an experienced professional male-identifying Black/Person of Colour (BPoC) dancer for Chalk About. We are looking for a performer, who should be interested in, and comfortable with, working with text.
This is a paid role with travel, accommodation and expenses provided; the contract is for 12 weeks from 12 September – 3 December 2022 as follows:
• 3.5 weeks rehearsal in Edinburgh
• 2.5 weeks touring to festivals in Ireland (Dublin, Galway, Limerick)
• 6 weeks touring to schools as part of the Theatre in Schools Scotland programme

AUDITION DETAILS
The workshop audition will take place at Dance Base in Edinburgh over 2 days as follows:
Saturday 16 July: 14:00 – 18:00
Sunday 17 July: 10:00 – 15:30
Applicants will need to attend both days.
Bursary: All invited participants will receive a bursary of £150 to support participation in the workshop audition.
Support for travel and access costs: If you are travelling 25+ miles each way to attend the audition, we can contribute to travel and/or accommodation costs. We can also offer financial support to help with access costs (including childcare or other caring costs) – please contact us for a chat.
Curious Seed is supported by Creative Scotland.
We require applicants to be UK based and to be UK, EU/EEA or Swiss passport holders due to the Ireland travel.
