Description:Job SummaryThis key role involves giving technical support and advice across the full range of activities undertaken by students and staff at The Place and other associated venues, particularly for London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) students’ performances, the maintenance of the AV and lighting equipment. Job Description Coordinate technical resources; provide technical support and administer the recording of live performances across The Place and other associated venues; assist London Contemporary Dance School in the delivery of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes ensuring appropriate technical and production support is in place for all activities. This includes: Management of technical resources Recordings of live performances financial management Supporting students and staff in their interaction with technical equipment Supporting LCDS performances General responsibilities The salary for this position is £28,114 per annum. This is a open-ended permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager. The post requires a flexible approach as there will be evening and weekend work for which time off in lieu will be agreed. At times advice giving and technical support maybe required off site and in various locations as negotiated with your line manager. Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. Once this period is successfully completed the postholder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be six weeks. Job Requirements Thorough knowledge of Audio and Video equipment, technology and editing software. An understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice. Basic knowledge of lighting and sound. Aptitude in managing administrative systems and rota creation. Experience of basic video and sound editing, as well as troubleshooting. Experience of maintaining a wide variety of Audio and Visual equipment. An interest in developing theatrical lighting and sound skills. Ability to work as part of a team and independently with initiative. Aptitude to problem solving and working flexibly and dynamically even when under pressure. Ability to communicate with a wide spectrum or people, remaining calm, professional, and positive. Job Responsibilities Become proficient in the use of The Place's cameras and editing systems, and other aspects of the technical infrastructure showing competency in all areas of their operation. Repair and maintain all audio-visual, lighting, and filming equipment and keep an accurate inventory of resources available. Maintain an awareness of copyright and Intellectual Property issues related to the recording and archiving of performances and sharings. Attending production meetings to understand specific set-up needs for performances. Maintain accurate records of all income and expenditure (as appropriate) associated with the AV room including prompt processing of invoices. Accurately record hourly paid staff hours to ensure correct monthly payroll submissions. Implement and enhance Health and Safety practices. Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Head of Learning Resources and Environmental Awareness (Audio Visual).
