Automation Technician
Stage Automation
Temporary Position, 3-6 months

Put your expertise in the spotlight
Under the responsibility of the Head of Studio Technical Services and the supervision of the Automation Head of Department, the Automation technician is called upon to:
· Install and inspect automation equipment as per Studio demands in accordance with studio protocols.
· Operate automated equipment during trainings, creations and workshops and special events in accordance with studio protocols.
· Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime during all studio activities.
· Take part in equipment maintenance and repairs as required in accordance with Studio procedures.
· Ensure compliance with established protocols, standards, and rules (studios, health & safety and others) enforced at the studios.
· Ensure the safety of the artists during all activities at the Studio.
· Report any safety hazards, incidents or near-misses to the appropriate personnel and follow established protocols for incident management.
· Manage acrobatic equipment and apparatus’ in association with automated equipment as needed.
· Perform inspections of acrobatic equipment and devices as needed in accordance with studio standards.
· Respect and maintain the schedules related to artistic and technical work taking place at the Studio.
· Work closely with other departments to respond to all client requests.
· Maintain a professional relationship with the clients and collaborators of the studios.
· Assist with house-keeping duties to maintain professional aesthetic appearance as per studio practices.
· Perform all other related tasks as requested by supervisor.
· Cross-train with and assist other departments as required to meet studio demands.
You possess the following educational, professional, and technical skills:
· College diploma (or equivalent) in show or theatre production (or equivalent work experience).
· Prior working experience as a show or event operator of automated equipment.
· Prior experience and/or training in Entertainment Motion Control Software.
o Navigator, Raynok, e-Chameleon, Show Control, etc.
· Technical knowledge of Automation Equipment and components.
o Electronics
o Mechanics
o Networking
o Electromechanical hardware and components
· Prior training and/or work experience with electrical applications.
· General understanding of all technical aspects of a show.
· Ability to work at heights.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Effective communication skills.
· Flexibility, autonomy, and team spirit.
· Ability to adapt to the unexpected and work under pressure.
· Ability to work in a team and strong sense of customer service.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications in the Windows environment.
· Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
· Availability to work variable work schedules.
· Ability to operate machinery such as a forklift or cherry picker.
· Prior training and/or experience as a rigger in an entertainment environment is an asset.
