PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Audio Engineer/Assistant Production Manager position for the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts (MCPA) will oversee and/or collaborate on Audio matters on events for the MCPA, The Greenwood School of Music (GSM) as well as outside rental client events in the facility. On occasion this may include McKnight related events staged in other locations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:

+bull; Coordinate and supervise the operation of Audio equipment/elements for the MCPA, GSM and rental clients.
+bull; Serve as house Head of Audio as needed.
+bull; Serve as live Audio Engineer in cases where touring productions do not travel with a dedicated engineer.
+bull; Work with touring productions to integrate MCPA audio system with their equipment as needed.
+bull; Interpret touring company technical riders and coordinate advance needs with MCPA Production Manager.
+bull; Work with Events and Production Managers to interpret the audio equipment needs for external clients.
+bull; Ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of production related audio systems, technical equipment, and facilities to maintain the readiness of stages, support areas, and technical systems.
+bull; Supervise hired crew for assigned event or maintenance activities.
+bull; Provide training as needed for audio assistants and stagehands.
+bull; Ensure safety of equipment specific to the department.
+bull; Serve as alternate Production Manager as assigned for MCPA, GSM and client events.
+bull; Facilitate audio tracking and editing of live performances for radio broadcast.
+bull; Assist in the creation of department specific annual budgets.
+bull; Other duties as assigned.

JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
+bull; High School with general audio, theater and performance knowledge and instruction required.
+bull; Bachelor+rsquo;s degree in audio engineering, music business or another related field preferred.
+bull; Minimum 2 years proven work experience and demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills.
+bull; Preference is given for successful experience within the production field of at least 5 years or more.
+bull; Stellar organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to schedule priorities to maximize efficiency and institutional goals.
+bull; Ability to work with a broad spectrum of personalities and to exhibit patience and understanding.
+bull; Working knowledge of Dante.
+bull; Working knowledge of Yamaha CL5.
+bull; Working knowledge of Pro tools.
+bull; Working knowledge of Symphony Orchestra recording a plus.
+bull; Ability to work independently and use independent judgment while keeping supervisor informed of work activity and issues.
+bull; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to create routine and complex reports and documents.
+bull; Ability to maintain the strictest confidence as needed.
