Description:Job SummaryAssociate Director to Oscar Toeman for the UK tour of Double Indemnity by James M. Cain, Adapted for the stage by Tom Holloway Job Description The Associate Director supports the Director in delivering and maintaining the artistic vision of the touring production. This role ensures the continuity, quality, and integrity of the show throughout the rehearsal period, technical stages, press performances, and subsequent tour weeks. The Associate Director will act as the Director's representative when required. Show Copy Los Angeles, 1930's. Amidst the wreckage of the Great Depression, Walter Huff, a sharp-eyed insurance salesman, has built his career spotting scams. But when he meets the dangerously seductive Phylis Nirdlinger (played by Mischa Barton) discuss her husband's life insurance policy, he finds himself drawn into a web of lust, greed, and betrayal. Together they plot the perfect crime: murder the husband, cash in the policy, and disappear into the Californian sunset. But passion can cloud judgement, and guilt can corrode the most perfect of plans. With each step increasingly risky, and as mistrust simmers, will Walter and Phyllis outsmart the law - or each other? Job Requirements Experience working on a professional touring production. Previous professional Assistant or Resident Director experience. High level of organisation and the ability to multi-task. Strong eye for detail and consistency. Ability to give clear, constructive notes and work collaboratively with performers and creative departments. Excellent communication skills. Job Responsibilities dpr During Rehearsals Work closely with the Director to understand & interpret the creative vision, style, and staging of the production. Assist with scheduling, rehearsal room planning, & communication between creative departments. Provide detailed documentation of staging, blocking, & scene transitions to support production departments. During Technical & Preview Periods Assist the Director with technical notes, staging adjustments, and integration of design elements. Run or contribute to understudy & swing technical rehearsals. Support the Director in monitoring performances during previews & helping implement note During the Tour Maintain the artistic quality of the production across all venues, ensuring consistency with the original direction & staging. Note to the company following 1st show watch at each venue. Lead understudy rehearsals, understudy calls, and emergency put-ins. Other responsibilities as required by the production.
