Description:Position Title: Assistant Technical DirectorPosition Dates: Full time, open-ended Salary: Up to $1000/weekly, based on experience and qualifications Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental Insurance, PTO, free/discounted tickets ABOUT THE PALACE THEATRES The Palace Theatres is a fast-paced, dynamic regional theatre company located in Manchester, NH. We produce eight professional "Broadway-style" musicals annually in a beautiful and historic 110+ year old theatre. The Palace Theatres also has an award-winning youth theatre program that performs approximately 25 shows per year between two venues. Between our musicals and youth theatre, we present a wide variety of concerts, rental shows, and other live events. THE POSITION The Assistant Technical Director supports the Technical Director in providing support with administrative and operational activities as needed, leads and oversees our scenic shop (and crew), and serves as Master Carpenter. Job Responsibilities Include: -Work with the Technical Director to oversee all operations at the shop, including: -Drafting of scenic elements to meet the specifications of our scenic designer(s) -Sourcing and purchasing materials -Creating and executing cut lists and assembling scenic pieces at the shop for dry-fit and/or painting -Logistics (scheduling staffing, transportation, etc.) -Improving functionality of workspaces through regular improvements and organization -Participate in load ins and outs, taking the lead on assembly of scenic elements at the theatre -Shared responsibility (with TD) in maintaining our spaces, our equipment, etc. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Qualifications: -Demonstrated experience constructing scenery using various theatrical woodworking techniques -Ability to draft ground plans and shop drawings, and communicate those plans clearly and concisely to others -Ability to drive a box truck (up to 26') -Basic rigging skills -Excellent teamwork skills, demonstrated experience leading a team -Positive attitude, willingness to adapt and work quickly in a fast-paced setting Desired/Preferred: -Experience in a professional theatre setting strongly preferred -Basic painting skills -Excellent organizational and communication skills Physical Demands/Work Environment: -Wide range of physical movements including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, etc. in the performance of daily activities -Ability to lift, drag, and/or push materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis -Moderate exposure to loud noises, bright lights, moving theatrical elements, etc. as well as the potential for electrical shock and burn hazards -Ability/willingness to work on ladders, mechanical lifts, and/or in high places required To be considered for this position, please email resume and cover letter (including 3 references) to Jamie Quinn, Technical Director.
