GENERAL JOB STATEMENT: Non-AEA candidates sought; however, working under an U/RTA contract, Music Theatre Wichita’s Assistant Stage Managers can earn credits through Equity’s EMC points program. The ASM works closely with the Stage Managers during the rehearsal period and performance run, supporting their work and helping to run the deck during performances.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist Stage Managers in creating forms, lists, and run orders.
Support Stage Managers and directors with rehearsal hall needs.
During rehearsal: handle daily setup and cleaning, track props and scenery, create reports, and manage daily calls under the Stage Managers' direction.
During performance: assist with daily setup and cleaning, maintain stage presets, assist with scenic changes, and ensure clear communication between the deck SM / calling SM and the crew under the Stage Managers' direction.
Maintain a safe and clean workspace, including rehearsal spaces, backstage, and SM office.
Ensure smooth, calm operation during tech rehearsals and performances.
Attend production meetings as needed.
Work in a safe, efficient, and organized manner.
Perform any other tasks as requested by the Director of Production, Assistant Production Manager, or Production Stage Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

2 years of experience in theatrical stage management.
Ideal candidate will be studying for or possess a bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent professional experience.
Ability to remain calm and organized under high-stress situations.
Strong communication, organizational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn new techniques and methods in the field.
