Berkshire Theatre Group, celebrating its 97th year as a professional theatre in Western MA, is accepting resumes for an Assistant Lighting Supervisor for the 2025 summer season. The festival will have five fully produced productions, plus concerts and special events on two stages. Weekly salary of $725 plus housing and all utilities provided. Summer season runs from mid May until mid/late August. Employment dates vary based on position.
The Colonial Theatre, founded in 1903, and Berkshire Theatre Festival, founded in 1928, are two of the oldest cultural organizations in the Berkshires. In 2010, under the leadership of Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire, the two organizations merged to form Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG). Berkshire Theatre Group's mission is to support wide ranging artistic exploration and acclaimed performances in theatre, dance, music and entertainment. Every year, BTG produces and presents performances to over 68,000 attendees and, through our Educational Program, serves over 11,000 Berkshire County school children annually. In July 2020, Berkshire Theatre was the first company in the United States to earn approval from Actors+rsquo; Equity Association to produce a musical (Godspell) in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. In 2028, Berkshire Theatre will celebrate 100 years of making theatre.

This position reports to: Lighting Supervisor and ultimately, the Director of Productions.
Qualifications:
Required
- Proficient experience in theatrical electrics.
- Google Suite basic understanding (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets).
- ETC EOS Programming.
- Vectorworks Drafting Experience.
- Proficiency in networking and troubleshooting lighting control systems.
- Lightwright 6 paperwork generation (with VW data exchange).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at height from a personnel lift, Extension ladder, and A-frame ladder.
- A working knowledge of DMX system implementation and troubleshooting.
- A working knowledge of LED tape control, soldering, installation, splicing, and troubleshooting.
- A working knowledge of safe counterweight system operation.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical theory.
Preferred
- EOS Show Control Protocols including OSC and MIDI
- A working knowledge of portable power distribution and tie-ins
- In depth Networking and IT knowledge
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and budget light plots, organize rentals/borrows, and facilitate communication with lighting designers, working with designers to ensure that all designs are completed within deadlines and budgets.
- Assist with overseeing day-to-day operations within the Electrics department, leading the hang, focus, maintenance, and strike of all electrics for each production, and ensuring a safe and healthy work/learning environment for staff.
- Assist with supervising and coordinating schedules for all summer electricians.
- Implement and execute any and all onstage practicals, atmospherics, and special effects.
- Program and operate an ETC Ion lighting console as needed.
- Maintain and repair electrics inventory and manage renting/borrowing relationships with neighboring organizations.
- Sit in technical rehearsals as required.
- Attend all production meetings and take notes.
- Maintain department budgets
- Track + update task lists as needed.
- Assist with any summer concerts/events as needed.
- Assist or lead other related projects as assigned
