Contract Dates: September 2020 – September 2021
Location: London, UK - must be London based
Contract Type: self employed/employee
Working Hours: In the Studio - 3 afternoon/ evenings pw, and Saturday afternoons.
Administration– Monday to Friday, 32-37 hours total pw
Fees: £18000-£20000
Notice period: 1 month
General Outline:
Aerial Days offers recreational Aerial classes to Children and Adults in the London Studio. We focus on the gradual and safe progression of aerial skills in a supportive, friendly and fun environment for beginners as well as more experienced students.
The Arts Officer role will be for a proactive, positive and skilled circus professional where this role is their main focus. They will teach and assist in Aerial Days’ classes, and manage the administration of classes.
Job Description:
The role requires the post holder to be the main person at the studio and in the office. This is a customer facing role and the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be enthusiastic, driven, with a proven strong professional background working in circus administration, teaching and as a practitioner.
They will work with the Director and Teaching Staff to ensure the effective and safe delivery of aerial classes. They should have excellent awareness of aerial safety protocols and be able to enact covid secure procedures. They will be a problem solver with an ability to stay calm and confident.
Duties include:
• devise, deliver and assess the programme of classes
• maintain the database
• update the website
• Promote class programs as required, including circulating promotional material to relevant groups and individuals on social media.
• monitor and program the booking system
• liase with clients
• organise the online data storage
• teach aerial (rope & silks) to adults and youth to a high level
• competent level of trapeze and hoop teaching
• demonstrate a clear and progressive written plan for teaching of classes
• lead warm ups, conditioning and dance classes
• a good level of floor based circus skills
• assist with rigging
• support the teachers during classes
• Monitor the PPE and sanitisation
• Comply with Aerial Days’ Health and Safety, safeguarding, insurance, covid secure and equalities policies.
Essential Key Skills and Experience:
• Degree in Circus (aerial)
• Dance qualification
• DBS checked
• First Aid certificate
• Safeguarding training
• Rigging assistant experience
• Aerial class assistant & management experience
• Knowledge of multiple technologies: integrations with squarespace, acuity, mailchimp, social media (facebook, Instagram)
• Video and picture editing
• Google business insights
• Competent with Google Drive, Dropbox, Excel, Word
• Willing to work split shifts, evenings, weekends with Aerial Days as a priority over other work
• Accomplished circus & dance performer/practitioner with at least 10 years’ experience.
• Experience with working with children, young adults, and adults
• Strong Evidence of comprehensive lesson planning
