CircusDanceFestival invites artists from the circus and dance world to submit original, short presentations for a 360° audience, performed on an open-air stage. Submit your best solo or duo work, for the air or on the ground, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. The deadline for submission is December 15, 2024 .
Selected entries will be performed in the 360° Shorts format at the CircusDanceFestival in Cologne, on 6, 7 and 8 June 2025.
Basic requirements
360° presentation: The work is suitable for a 360° audience.
Duration: Maximum 15 minutes.
Location: Suitable for an open-air stage and performed in daylight.
Completed work: No work in progress.
Occupation: Solo or duo.
Technology: No extensive technical support required.
Who can register?
We are looking for both established and emerging artists, career changers or cross-disciplinary makers. Your work can be funny, smart, poetic, critical, or queer – as long as it fits an outdoor setting and is suitable for 360° public presentation.
Please note: Applications from undergraduate students are not eligible. We explicitly welcome applications from women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and people with disabilities or a refugee or migrant background.
Terms and Conditions
Festival dates: June 6, 7 and 8, 2025. Up to four different plays will be performed daily.
Selection: 10-12 pieces will be selected.
Compensation: Solo: €400 net, Duo: €800 net (plus travel expenses, accommodation and meals).
Free admission: Free tickets for other festival shows.
Availability: When registering, you confirm your availability on the dates stated.
Technical Specifications
Stage options:
Round stage of 9 m diameter, or
Square stage of 8x8 m with a 7 m high truss for aerial acrobatics.
Rehearsal: A short rehearsal on the day of the performance.
Support: Festival technician for simple music cues; rigger for truss setups; quick set-up and take-down assistance.
