Description:
In January 2019 RoguePlay’s Performance Team will be embarking on a full scale family friendly production of ‘Around The world In 80 Days’, for touring performance. Underpinning this production is a programme entitled ‘Women of The Future’, focusing on professional training for 3 aspiring aerial and physical theatre artists under 25 yrs.
Around The World In 80 Days will be a 25 minute aerial and acrobatic performance taking place on a specifically designed rig, and follows the classic journey of Phileas Fogg, written by Jules Verne, as he ventures around the world. The tale takes the audience on a magical journey across land and sea, encountering steamships, elephants and wolf drawn sleds. It explores life on the waves, connections with home, the transience of the traveller and the many tales that come with it. The colourful narrative of skilled acrobatics will unfold together with poetry and traditional song, bringing the journey to life with the sound of steamboats and waves, marketplaces and jungles, snowstorms and sand. Following the performances, audiences will be able to literally ‘climb aboard’, and give into their curiosity and play. This tactile piece is aimed in particular at engaging young children, families and those with learning and physical disabilities.
