Description and Application Information:We are looking for acts from all walks of circus life to respond to our brief (see form) and be a... ...Requirements:We would like to see 500 word (or less) written proposals in the form below.These need to be made with the medium of filmed performance in mind – an existing live performance will not be considered – think about how your act can be changed for an ‘on screen performance, think camera angles, interesting cuts etc. Prepare to Present:Think outside the box – if we pick your proposal, we can help make it a reality with consultation & (if needed) loan of equipment – we want to make your proposal a reality. All proposals must be for an act lasting 5 minutes or less.The Brief theme: Conflicting times It has got to be one of the strangest and most conflicted times in our history, especially on a personal level, never have we been so restricted personally and yet also so free in a way, so much has been lost but also an opportunity for different aspects to be found is presented. It is also worthy of note how never before have we as a global community or society collaborated in such a way to try and help each other. Wherever we find ourselves the compromises and conflicts touch us all and the grass as ever seems greener on the other side. There is a juxtaposition in ways of trying to process or use this time, a pressure to better ourselves, to do all the things we never had time for, clashing with a sense of needing to stop doing, pause and reflect perhaps, and both sides can be tinged with an aspect of despair and doom as much as hope and salvation. This tension is what we are trying to explore and unpack in this project. We don’t want to make these shows about this pandemic or these restrictions necessarily, rather the reflections, interpretations, emotions and journeys it has given us the time to explore. The essence of what we do as artists and performers who are used to playing to a live audience when that is taken away, when it becomes as much a therapy for ourselves as it has been for viewers traditionally for millennia! An internal journey of discovery more so than a journey we are creating to take others with us on.
