Union of Musicians and Allied Workers with Zack Nestel-Patt: Circuspreneur Podcast with Shenea Stiletto

On this episode 78 of the Circuspreneur Podcast, host Shenea Stiletto interviews Union of Musicians And Allied Workers member, musician Zack Nestel- Patt. TheUnion of Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW) believe that the only way to transform music is to collectively take resources and power from the few wealthy companies that dictate their industry. They invite all music workers, including musicians, DJs, producers, road crew, and others, to join us. They also aim to use their strength as music workers to join in the broader struggles of their fellow workers across the globe. They stand for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, abolishing ICE, destroying borders, the freeing of incarcerated people, and more. Music workers are workers, and it is time we get organized and join the fight.

United Musicians and Allied Workers celebrates the introduction of the Living Wage for Musicians Act– led by Reps. Rashida Talib and Jamaal Bowman – to Congress. By creating a new streaming royalty, the bill would help ensure that artists and musicians can build sustainable careers in the digital age. The Living Wage for Musicians Act is built to pay artists a minimum penny per stream, an amount calculated specifically to provide a working class artist a living wage from streaming.
